The Union Européenne de Cyclisme wishes to announce that the 2028 Track Elite European Championships have been awarded to Apeldoorn (Netherlands) and that Zolder (Belgium) has been granted first option to host the 2030 edition.
These two prestigious events form part of a project carried out in collaboration with the Dutch and Belgian Cycling Federations and organisers, with whom the UEC has developed a particularly strong partnership over the years.
These two editions will also hold significant symbolic value. In 2028, the Dutch Cycling Federation will celebrate its centenary, whilst 2030 will mark the bicentenary of Belgium. For these two historic events the European Championships are an ideal opportunity to celebrate the role and tradition of two nations that have always been leading lights in European and world cycling.
The choice of Apeldoorn and Zolder will also showcase two facilities of the very highest standard. The Apeldoorn velodrome, which is internationally reputed and highly regarded, has already hosted numerous major events, including European and World Championships. Zolder, with its new, modern velodrome, has quickly made a name for itself on the international stage, having already hosted the Elite European Championships and the Junior World Championships.

We have two very busy years ahead of us, with numerous UEC events taking place in both countries, and we are delighted that the Track Elite European Championships will be part of this programme.
Apeldoorn is a world-renowned velodrome that has hosted some of the biggest international competitions in recent years; Zolder now boasts brand-new, modern, top-class facilities, which have already proven their worth by hosting major events.
The centenary of the Dutch Cycling Federation in 2028 and the bicentenary of Belgium in 2030 are two exceptional events. We wish to help celebrate them as they deserve, alongside two federations that have written – and continue to write – fundamental chapters in the history of our sport.
These choices are also the result of the excellent collaboration we have established with the federations, organisers and institutions in both countries, as well as a shared commitment to developing ever more significant and high-calibre events for European cycling.”
