UEC MANAGEMENT BOARD SETS DIRECTION FOR COMING SEASONS

The Union Européenne de Cyclisme’s Management Board met at the Maison du Sport Internationale in Lausanne (Switzerland). The meeting provided an opportunity to review the past season, which was marked by high-level events and strong public participation, and to plan activities for the coming years, with a particular focus on developing cycling among young people and supporting National Federations.

During the meeting various European Championships were awarded for the upcoming seasons:

2026 UEC Youth MTB European Championships - Cheile Grădiștei (Transylvania - Romania), 22-26 July 2026

  • 2026 UEC Road Paracycling European Championships - Maniago (Pordenone – Italy), 12-14 June 2026
  • 2026 UEC Trials European Championships - Valberg (France), 7-9 August 2026
  • 2026 UEC MTB Eliminator European Championships- Sakarya (Turkey), 7 June 2026
  • 2028 UEC MTB Marathon European Championships - Castro (Lecce - Italy)

New qualification system for the UEC Gravel European Championships.

From 2026, a new qualification system will come into force for the European Gravel Championships. In summary:

  • Automatic qualification via the European events of the UCI Gravel World Series contested during the previous 12 months: the top 25% in each category, of European sporting nationality, qualify.
  • Eligibility for European titles is reserved solely for qualified athletes who hold an annual licence and a UCI ID and are of European sporting nationality.
  • Amateurs may participate with a day licence, but without access to European titles; a sports medical certificate is required.
  • The event will also remain a qualifying round for the UCI Gravel World Championships.

Enrico Della Casa, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: “The 2025 season was packed with events that generated keen public interest and attracted excellent television audiences.

We supported several solidarity, training and development projects, closely accompanying the work of National Federations, particularly in the area of youth activities, which are one of our priorities.

The 2026 calendar is already shaping up to be very busy, as are those for the following seasons.

With the European Championships and European Cups, we have added new venues and are working on new innovative projects and other formats currently under consideration, always with the aim of supporting the Federations and developing youth participation in all disciplines.

I would like to thank my colleagues on the Management Board, elected last March, for their ongoing commitment, as well as the UEC technical staff who, together with all the local organisers, ensured high organisational standards.”
