A thrilling finale for the tenth edition of the UEC Road European Championships took place today in Drôme-Ardèche. The final day was marked by the triumph of Tadej Pogačar and an exceptional turnout: more than 60,000 spectators attended today's Men’s Elite Road Race, out of a total of 100,000 people present throughout the five days of competition.
The 202.5 km course between Privas and Guilherand-Granges, with 3,300 metres of elevation gain, provided a spectacular show of the highest level.
Fresh from his world championships victory in Kigali, the Slovenian sensation once again put on a masterful display, winning solo after launching an attack around 75 kilometres from the finish.
No rider was able to keep up with his impressive pace: Remco Evenepoel, Olympic Road and Time Trial champion and new European Time Trial champion, tried to chase him down before giving up, finishing in second place, as he did at the World Championships.
France's Paul Seixas, 19, completed the podium by winning the bronze medal with a spirited performance, cheered on by the French crowd.
The enthusiasm of the crowds and the quality of the racing crowned an exceptional week of cycling, which placed Drôme and Ardèche at the heart of the European scene, ten years after the first Elite edition organised in Plumelec in 2016 — where Tadej Pogačar had already made a name for himself by winning bronze in the Juniors category.
The next edition of the UEC Road European Championships will be held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) from 3 to 7 October 2026.
