#EUROCROSS20, 'S-HERTOGENBOSCH READY FOR A GREAT WEEKEND

This 2020 edition of the Cyclo-Cross European Championships that will take place on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November in 's-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands) promises to be exciting.

In the Men’s Elite, the most anticipated battle will once again be between Belgium and the Netherlands, the two countries who will be at the starting line with very strong riders.

The Belgian Toon Aert, one of the riders currently in the spotlight, will compete against fierce opponents, in particular the Dutch rider Lars van der Haar. Other eagerly awaited riders in this key race will be the Belgians Laurens Sweeck, Eli Isebyt and Michael Vanthourenhout as well as the Dutch rider Corne Van Kessel and the young Frenchman Mickael Crispin, winner of the title last year in the Under 23 category.

The Dutch rider Yara Kastelijn, current European champion, will be the one to beat in the Women’s Elite race, in which the second and third of last year’s ranking in Silvelle (Italy) will also be competing: the Italian Eva Lechner and Annemarie Worst (Netherlands). The Belgian Sanne Cant, three times world champion and the Dutch riders Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado, current world champion, and Lucinda Brand will also be in the line up.

The first three in the World Championships ranking last February will be racing in the Women’s Under 23 race: Marion Norbert Riberolle (France), Blanka Kata Vas (Hungary) and Anna Kay (Great Britain), with the young Dutch rider Shirin van Anrooij.

In the Men’s events, Belgium will be the leading team with Thibau Nys and Emiel Verstrynge.

Rocco Cattaneo, President of the Union Européenne de Cyclisme: “When Cyclo-Cross is talked about in Europe, it is always about the passion for one of the most fascinating disciplines in the world of cycling. This passion is particularly present in the Netherlands, especially in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

After the excellent experience of 2018, the city located in Brabant Septentrional is once again gearing up to welcome the world’s best specialists, who will taking part in a top-level competition. It should be remembered that Cyclo-Cross was created and developed in Europe and the European Championships have always been a great battleground and attracted both the experienced and enthusiasts.

The event will benefit from extensive worldwide TV coverage and also live coverage provided by Eurovision.

We would like to thank the Dutch Cycling Federation, its President Marcel Wintels, the town of 's-Hertogenbosch, the Mayor Jack Mikkers, and above all the organisers, Libema Profcycling who, in such a difficult year, have worked with great professionalism and made a huge effort to ensure that the event can go ahead, in an unprecedented situation compared to the usual conditions, but which will be even more special thanks to the efforts of the organising committee.“
